The line up of Fortnite characters has received a couple of changes as we progress through the Shock ‘N Awesome season, and you can now meet fresh face Championship Surf Witch if you head down to the southwest corner of the island – who will help you progress in the Champion’s Road 2025 quests if you ask her about the FNCS. The change of Utopia City to Dystopia City on the map does mean that Killswitch and Morgan Myst have both left their posts for the time being, but they could return at a later date.
The services these Fortnite NPCs offer have been greatly streamlined, with most now providing Healing and Rifts as standard so long as you meet the required OXR Rank – though if they’re fighting bugs then you’ll need to neutralize the threat before you can interact with them. They also don’t have any Fortnite new weapons to sell, so you’ll have to track those down yourself.
This gives us a total of 17 characters to find across the island, and while this number of NPCs is already quite large a lot of them are in close proximity to each other, which means there are some considerable areas of the map that currently aren’t covered while others such as OXR HQ are particularly busy! Interact with any of them you meet to receive useful items and have the chance to purchase hard-to-find weapons, as well as being able to invest in services to get a competitive edge over your rivals.

Fortnite SHADOW Briefings: Where to find and accept them
Watch out for the Scout, Heavy, Supply, and Medic Specialists who are denoted by a specific icon and can be hired during matches, as they each offer a unique set of skills and can be issued with Fortnite commands to deploy them strategically, gaining you a tactical advantage. Scouts can mark targets and snipe them from distance, Heavies are immune to fire and throw explosives, Supplies keep you topped up with ammo, while Medics provide healing and even revival where possible. It’s likely that future quests will require particular characters to complete them, so it pays to know their locations in advance to quickly track down and meet them when it counts.
In a throwback to previous seasons, certain characters have recently been made responsible for handing out Island Story Fortnite quests, and while we’re waiting to see if this happens again during Shock ‘N Awesome it still pays to know their locations. They’ll also give you handy items for free when you meet, as well as selling services such as healing your injuries, or rifting you into the sky. If you want to benefit from their abilities, then you’ll need to know where to find these 17 different NPCs.
Fortnite characters accept payment in the form of Fortnite gold bars, which you can spend with them on weapons, items, and useful services. Because the world of Fortnite is so large you might not stumble upon them by accident, so follow my guide to all of the Fortnite characters locations and you’ll be meeting up with these elusive NPCs in no time.
Fortnite Characters locations in Season 4 of Chapter 6
There are currently 17 official Fortnite characters, and you can keep track of the ones you’ve met so far by visiting the Characters tab on the Quests screen in-game – which is also accessible through the Collections option under the Quests tab in the lobby. They currently only spawn in one specific location each meaning no roaming characters, so I’ve marked all of the Fortnite characters locations I’ve encountered on the map. Bear in mind that if another player has hired or eliminated them, that will remove the character from their location.
